Career Advising

The South Central Job Centers have Career Advisors to help you if you are looking for work or considering a career change. They can help you outline your qualifications to determine jobs you may be qualified for or help you develop a career plan.

What to Expect At a Career Advising Session

The first time you meet with a Career Advisor it will be in a group setting. The Career Advisor will review resources available to you through the job center system. You will take an online assessment to help the Career Advisor understand your interests and skills which will help the Career Advisor refer you to other support resources in your community. The group advising session also includes information on budgeting, time management, financial aid and online resources to learn about job openings in your area.

Anyone who is interested in WorkSmart's Workforce Investment Act (WIA) program must attend a group career advising session and work with a Career Advisor to develop a plan for work search or career development. If, after attending the group career advising session, you need additional help you can set a one-to-one appointment with a Career Advisor.
